Operations are progressing swiftly across 11 designated sites, fully aligned with the government’s “Housing for All” programme.

Work is being carried out around the clock using three advanced dredgers, including two of the largest vessels in the world, with the goal of completing the full 1,009 hectares of land reclamation by April.

Officials emphasized their commitment to completing the dredging before opening applications for housing plots, ensuring timely delivery and transparency.

Launched on 18 December 2023, the Rasmale’ project was fast-tracked with the awarding of the contract to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). In its initial phase, 15,000 land plots will be distributed to Male’ residents through the new “Family Housing” programme, with the broader goal of providing 65,000 homes, addressing the country’s long-standing housing shortage.

Technical surveys are also underway to explore permanent connectivity between Rasmale’ and Male’, further supporting the island’s integration into the capital’s infrastructure network.
