The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has made significant progress on the redevelopment of Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu, completing 143 metres of sheet piling for the inner seawall along the northern section of Malé.

This marks the end of the first stage of sheet piling within the current construction zone, which stretches from the Official Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.

MTCC confirmed that Phase 1 activities are ongoing across four separate sections, focused on modernising and extending a total of 700 metres of the roadway.

The upgraded road will feature wider lanes, a modern drainage system, asphalt surfacing, pedestrian pavements, and enhanced street lighting. Sidewalk construction and additional sheet piling continue, following the same engineering techniques applied to previously completed sections.

Meanwhile, a 380-metre stretch from Izzuddin Jetty to North Harbour has already been completed and opened, improving both traffic movement and pedestrian accessibility.
