Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has announced that land plot registration for the previous administration’s Binveriyaa housing scheme will officially begin this month.
The update follows yesterday's release of a newly revised land use plan for Gulhifalhu. In a statement posted on X, Minister Muththalib explained that the initial allocation—spanning both reclaimed and unreclaimed sections of the island—had complicated the registration process. To address this, the revised plan allocates all residential plots solely from reclaimed land.

He noted that while the changes impacted land previously designated for commercial, institutional, and other uses, the revisions were essential to accelerate registration efforts in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to expedite land handovers.
“This change was made in consultation with the association representing landowners, and a consensus has been reached on how to move forward,” he said. “God willing, the lottery draw will take place this month, and land registration will begin.”
Minister Muththalib added that the handover of plots will proceed once the survey is complete.
