President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially launched the construction of the M. Muli–Naalaafushi Causeway, a key infrastructure project aimed at strengthening regional connectivity. The inauguration ceremony took place on 20th May 2025, in M. Muli, marking the start of this significant development.
Spanning 655 metres, the causeway forms part of the President’s electoral commitments and is expected to be completed within 600 days. The project scope includes the construction and tarring of roads, installation of street lighting, a 112-metre revetment, and a 15-metre groyne.
Once completed, the causeway will facilitate seamless travel between Muli and Naalaafushi, allowing for more efficient service delivery, shared resources, and integrated development. Beyond infrastructure, the project is also expected to open new economic opportunities and strengthen social connections between the two island communities.
