The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments is carrying out 79 development initiatives across the Maldives as part of ongoing efforts to enhance Islamic facilities and services throughout the country.
The projects cover a wide range of developments, including 45 mosque construction and renovation projects, 12 Islamic Centre projects, 16 National Centre for the Holy Quran projects, and 6 Waqf building projects.
As work continues to strengthen the Islamic sector nationwide, the Ministry remains focused on completing these projects in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that communities across the Maldives benefit from improved religious infrastructure and services.
Key developments currently in progress include the Dhaarul Arqam Building in Malé and the Dhaarussalam Waqf Building in Hulhumalé. The Ministry is also preparing to begin physical construction of the Hulhumalé Grand Mosque by September this year, which is set to become the largest mosque ever built in the Maldives.
The Hulhumalé Grand Mosque project has already secured funding through international assistance, representing an important step forward in the expansion and development of Islamic infrastructure in the country.
