Addu city has opened positions today for their citizens who want to build housing units in their own housing lands. Addu city council has informed earlier that under the government's housing plan, citizens have been requesting the government to build housing units in their own land.

The council has informed, through an official statement. All citizens of Addu, from Addu's regions who want to build housing units in their own land should submit an online form on the 30th of this month before 10:00AM.

In February 2025, the President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muiz declared that he gives guarantee for all citizens who are residing in the islands that the government has promised that this project will take on for those who want to build housing units in their own land. Additionally, he stated that this project will benefit those who own land but lack the ability to construct housing on their own.

The government has declared that under their control, this project will take on very soon for those in the islands of Haa Dhaalu. Kulhudhufushi and Nolhivaranfaru of that Atoll. The project will be carried on by HDC, under the supervision of the government.

The president has also stated that the housing problem will be resolved before the end of his administration and that this project will be extremely beneficial to those who live on islands and have housing difficulties.
