The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure is set to host online familiarisation sessions to enhance public and stakeholder understanding of the Construction Act's rules and regulations. These sessions aim to raise awareness among individuals and entities involved in the construction industry. Interested participants are encouraged to register by October 1, with session details to be announced soon.

Enacted in 2017, the Construction Act serves to regulate and uphold standards within the Maldivian construction sector. The Act mandates the planning ministry to establish and enforce regulations concerning safety standards, construction procedures, training requirements, contractor classifications, and other essential aspects. Key provisions include the development of a building code, implementation of a fine system for non-compliance, prioritisation of Maldivian workers, and mechanisms for compensation.

By organising these sessions, the government seeks to ensure that all stakeholders are well-informed about the legal framework governing construction activities, promoting compliance and safety across the industry.
