Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has officially begun the contract signing process for the 4,000-flat Gedhoruveriya housing scheme in Hulhumalé.

The signing is being conducted at the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track, with residents being called in a specific order. According to HDC, signings will take place daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding weekends and public holidays.

The current government is proceeding with the beneficiary list gazetted by the previous administration, which was published on 15th November 2023—just two days before the change in leadership. That list includes 3,721 individuals eligible for three-bedroom apartments and 1,218 for two-bedroom units.

FDC is coordinating directly with the Housing Ministry to receive verified applicant data. Eligible recipients are also being notified via the Gedhoruveriya Portal, which FDC is using to manage appointment schedules and other communications.

The construction of the flats was awarded to two Indian firms. Rental terms have been set at MVR 7,000 per month for two-bedroom apartments and MVR 9,500 for three-bedroom units. Maintenance fees are MVR 1,000 and MVR 1,500 respectively, with required security deposits of MVR 15,000 and MVR 25,000.

FDC Managing Director Hamdhan Shakeel confirmed that keys will only be handed over after security deposits are paid—even if agreements have already been signed. He assured that residents will have ample time to make the necessary payments.

Before handover, each unit will be fully completed with installations including doors, windows, fans, tiles, bathroom fixtures, and final paintwork.
